On Sunday, August 24, Phoenix Public Library will host “A Very Laufey Day” with Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter Laufey, a global event uniting Phoenix with four other library systems to celebrate music and literature. Phoenix Public Library announced that singer-songwriter Laufey is partnering with the system to launch a limited-edition Laufey Book Club library card. According to the City of Phoenix, the card, available only on the day of the event, can be obtained by signing up for a new account or exchanging an existing card at designated branches across Phoenix.
Each holder of the current Phoenix Public Library card, eager to obtain the special Laufey design, must be ready to embrace a new library card number, the library states. The participating locations where the limited-edition cards will be issued from 12 to 10 p.m. include Cholla Library, Harmon Library, and Yucca Library, while the Burton Barr Central Library will offer the cards from 1 to 5 p.m., as per the City of Phoenix. Adding to the festivities, two special Bookmobile pop-up visits are scheduled at Mesquite Library and Desert Sage Library for those unable to reach the main venues.
