A tragic incident unfolded on the roads of West Baton Rouge Parish when a Port Allen man lost his life in a vehicle crash. According to the Louisiana State Police, the accident occurred yesterday, and involved two vehicles along LA 986 near Laplace Lane. The victim has been identified as 66-year-old Jerry Scott from Port Allen.
The initial investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop A indicated that the collision happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. A 2022 Ford delivery truck, heading east on LA 986, came to a halt to turn left. Behind it, Scott's 2017 Nissan Sentra, for a reason that remains unclear, did not manage to stop in time and collided with the truck's rear. "Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on LA 986 near Laplace Lane," the Louisiana State Police reported. Scott was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
