
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office has identified 31-year-old Jose Gomez Bustamante from Redwood City as a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing that occurred at the Caltrain Redwood City Station. Gomez Bustamante was arrested and booked at the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges of homicide, as reported by the Sheriff's Office. Authorities are reaching out to the public for any relevant media captured in relation to the incident through a secure evidence portal provided in their statement.
Earlier, the Sheriff's Office had taken a suspect into custody without incident after the stabbing incident at the station, which left an adult male with serious injuries. Indications suggest that it was an isolated incident, and the authorities have confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community. Despite rapid medical intervention, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. "We extend our thoughts and deepest condolences to the loved ones of the deceased," Sheriff Christina Corpus said in a statement obtained by the Sheriff's Office.
