
Sacramento will open two cooling centers from August 22–24 due to a heat advisory from the National Weather Service. The centers are the Outreach and Engagement Center at 3615 Auburn Blvd. and the Sam & Bonnie Pannell Community Center at 2450 Meadowview Road, according to the City of Sacramento.
The City of Sacramento announced that the OEC will be open from 10 a.m. on Friday to 8 a.m. on Sunday. It will allow pets and provide storage for personal belongings. The Pannell Community Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. Pets are not allowed, but residents may bring personal items they can carry.
The City of Sacramento cooling centers offer air-conditioning, water, and phone charging stations, with libraries and community centers also open during regular hours. Residents can call 311 for assistance and use free Sacramento Regional Transit by showing a flyer.
