According to a social media post by the City of Saint Paul - Government, a large watermain break occurred on W. 7th Street just west of St. Peter Street. It was one of the 8" lines servicing the Ecolab building that had failed.
The city has issued an alert via its social media channels, cautioning locals that westbound 7th Street from St. Peter to West 6th Street is sealed off. Traffic updates suggest that Westbound 7th Street will likely remain closed throughout the entire weekend to accommodate the necessary repairs and subsequent restoration efforts.
Authorities are encouraging people to plan alternative routes and to allocate additional time for their commutes. In the midst of the break, the Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) crews have been commended for their swift response.
