Sam’s Club will open its first store in Tempe with a series of events starting last Saturday. A parking lot event with live music and free treats will lead up to the official grand opening on Thursday, according to KTAR.
The new Sam’s Club at 2080 E. Rio Salado Parkway will host a sneak preview for members on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring early shopping and food from the Member’s Mark food truck, as detailed by KTAR. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony with local dignitaries will take place the following day. The 155,000-square-foot location includes Scan & Go technology and the company’s largest fulfillment center to support curbside pickup and deliveries.
Sam’s Club in Tempe is adopting a digital-first checkout system with Scan & Go as the main payment option. A news release obtained by ABC15 stated, “While Scan & Go will be the primary form of payment at the Tempe Sam’s Club, the club will continue to serve all members, including those paying with cash or who aren’t using Scan & Go yet.” The store also features local products such as San Tan beverages and Harkins Popcorn, and a members-only fuel station that opened in early June.
