Colma police apprehended a man linked to multiple warrants during a routine lot check at a local Target. In a social media post dated today, the Colma Police Department recounted the arrest of Christopher Martinez, a 49-year-old San Francisco resident known to the authorities from previous encounters. According to the department's post, Martinez was taken into custody after a name and birth date check revealed several active warrants for his arrest, including felony and misdemeanor charges.
Specific details shared by the department noted that last August 9, at around 7:48 PM, officers passing by the Target at 5001 Junipero Serra Boulevard spotted Martinez. Recognizing him from a past theft incident, the officers decided to engage. A routine check by dispatchers confirmed the existence of a $50,000 and $10,000 felony warrant, along with a $10,000 and a $1,000 misdemeanor warrant attached to his name. After his arrest, police discovered an illegal weapon, a sap, on his person.
The search that led to the weapon's discovery was incident to the arrest, a procedure that often brings to light hidden contraband or evidence that may further incriminate the arrested individual. Martinez now faces additional charges for possession of a leaded weapon. Following these events, Martinez was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
