San José police have arrested 27-year-old Julian Taylor in connection with the city's 29th homicide of 2024, which tragically involved a five-month-old infant. According to SJPD's official news release, on November 3, 2024, officers were called to the 4500 block of The Woods Drive on reports of an unconscious, non-breathing infant. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the child was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
It wasn't until November 9, 2024, that the child was pronounced dead. The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner later concluded, on July 22, that the infant had died of multiple traumatic injuries, ruling the death a homicide. Taylor, identified as the father and a potential suspect during the investigation, was arrested on Monday, after an arrest warrant had been secured with the help of the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.
The capture of Taylor was the result of collaborative enforcement efforts. Taylor was located and apprehended in Palmdale, CA, by a joint initiative involving the SJPD Homicide Detectives and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Gang Surveillance Unit Task Force. Following his arrest, Taylor was returned to San José and is currently held on charges of child abuse resulting in death.
"Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Martinez #3934 or Detective Jize #4324 of the San José Police Department’s Homicide Unit," the SJPD statement urged.
