The IMPD Overdose Death Task Force (ODTF) has made a second arrest in connection to the February 2025 overdose death of 31-year-old Casey Gentry. Detectives arrested 31-year-old Zachary Daniels, now facing federal charges for his alleged role in providing the fatal drugs, according to IMPD News.

On the evening of February 23, IMPD officers responded to reports of an overdose in the 1400 block of N. Berwick Avenue, where they found Gentry. Despite attempts at revival, she was pronounced dead by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS). Detectives used various methods to trace the source of the drugs, which led to Daniels, found hiding under a sink at a Shepard Street property, along with guns, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana. Daniels had active warrants and was subsequently arrested on federal charges. All of this took place, after an extensive monthslong investigation that resulted in multiple arrests, including guns and narcotics recovered.

The investigation further revealed a suspected accomplice, Tiffany Cole. On Wednesday, authorities arrested Cole who is believed to have conducted the drug transaction that led to Gentry's overdose, on behalf of Daniels. Cole was detained following the execution of a warrant at the same Shepard Street address linked to Daniels. Both she and Daniels have been preliminarily charged with Dealing a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death, though formal charges are pending from the Marion County Prosecutor's Office.

IMPD emphasizes that, "All parties should be considered innocent until proven guilty." The final determination of the cause of death was made by the Marion County Coroner’s Office, which responded to the initial overdose scene.
