Sevier County Fire and Rescue teams have been actively engaging a brush fire since yesterday evening, according to multiple reports. The fire, which is located near Richardson Cove Road and Phillips Way, is estimated to cover about three acres.
Despite the challenges presented by the fire's location, crews have managed to contain it by 50%. The fire's remote positioning, described as a "remote area" by WBIR, adds a layer of complexity to the firefighting efforts. Working under the demanding conditions, the emergency personnel have been relentless in their response.
In an update provided at 6:46 p.m., Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter acknowledged the efforts of not just the Sevier County Fire & Rescue but also the Tennessee Department of Forestry and other agencies. "Hand crews and dozers are working hard to get the brushfire within containment," McCarter said in a statement obtained by WATE. The situation, while under control, is still developing, and updates will be provided as they become available.
