The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is inviting the public to register for the upcoming Fall 2025 Citizens’ Academy, a program designed to foster a better understanding between the community and law enforcement officers. In a social media post from the office, Sheriff Floyd Bonner emphasized the initiative as a chance for citizens to become more informed about the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff's Office. The program is set to start on October 14th and will run through November 20th.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office social media announcement, the Citizens’ Academy's classes are scheduled for every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6 to 9 pm, held at the SCSO Training Academy located at 993 Dovecrest Road. In an effort to accommodate all interested individuals, the office is also offering a virtual attendance option for those unable to be present in person. The program is free of charge; however, a completed registration form along with a background information form is required for participation.
Those interested in joining the upcoming session of the Citizens’ Academy can sign up through the link provided in the Sheriff's Office post.
