In a development out of the Bronx, ten individuals have been indicted on charges ranging from sex trafficking of a child to rape, revolving around the exploitation of a 16-year-old girl. According to the information provided by the Bronx District Attorney's Office, the perpetrators allegedly used a combination of dating apps and coercion to commit these egregious acts.
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark highlighted the victim's bravery in testifying before the grand jury, a step which has now seen her receive support from the Crime Victims Assistance Bureau. An important detail surfaced in the case, revealing that the beginning of this exploitation was tied to a dating app known as "Tagged," as per the press release. Notably, the prosecution has charged the individuals with a 79-count indictment, including sex trafficking of a child, promoting prostitution at different degrees, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Judge Laurence Busching presided over the arraignments, with one of the defendants, Joshua Green, recently having his bail set at $50,000 cash and $100,000 bond. All defendants are expected to return to court on October 14. The DA's Human Trafficking Unit and NYPD's Human Trafficking Squad jointly conducted the investigation that laid bare the extent of this criminal network's reach, spanning from New York to Atlantic City, NJ. Tesean Green, the primary suspect, met the young girl through "Tagged" and is accused of setting up hundreds of dates for her while confiscating her earnings, as reported by the Bronx District Attorney's Office.
Additional findings from the investigation reveal a pattern of abuse that includes violence and forced drug trade, with one episode culminating in the victim suffering a broken jaw at the hands of Tesean Green. Subsequently, the victim was coerced into selling crack cocaine, allegedly by Joshua Green. The indictment also ensnares Jamel Cameron and Brianna Jamison, who purportedly managed the teen's dates via online advertisements. Others indicted are accused of engaging in sex with the underage victim. District Attorney Clark extended gratitude to Detective Denis Regimbal of the NYPD's Human Trafficking Squad and other members of the prosecutorial team for their diligent work on this case.
