Shrewsbury police reported a busy first week of August with multiple incidents. On Wednesday last week, a routine traffic stop for expired license plates led to a brief chase on Watson Road. The driver, who failed to provide identification or vehicle documentation, was arrested and faces charges including driving without a license and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
According to the Shrewsbury Police Crime Report, the same day, a theft occurred at a local fitness center, where several credit and debit cards were stolen from unsecured lockers. Some of the cards were later used fraudulently at a nearby Galleria mall.
On Friday last week, multiple vehicle break-ins were reported on streets including Sandau and Ravensridge. Stolen items included purses, wallets, and a firearm. Police recovered a stolen vehicle connected to the incidents and are investigating further, with DNA evidence collected.
From Monday last week to Sunday, Shrewsbury officers also responded to 9 auto accidents, 5 suspicious activity calls, 16 theft reports, assisted the Fire Department on 37 calls, and conducted 22 traffic stops.
