It's time to embrace the bold, the vibrant, and the detailed as "So Fun! An Exploration of Maximalism" makes its debut at the Vision Gallery later this month. Scheduled to run from August 23 through November 2, the exhibition features the works of five artists who are not shy about saturating their canvases with color, pattern, and repetition, fully embodying the maximalist ethos.

Aesthetically rich and diverse, the gallery space will be filled with a range of art forms including sculptures, drawings, paintings, and site-specific installations. Hanley Ange, the City of Chandler’s visual arts specialist and the curator behind the exhibition, sees the artists as champions of creativity and risk, celebrating not just their art but their capacity for radical acceptance and empowerment. "The artists in 'So Fun!' were selected for their boundless creativity, fearless risk-taking, openness to sharing their inner worlds, and rebellious spark," Ange told Vision Gallery.

Tucson-based artist Lex Gjurasic, one of the exhibition's contributors, recognizes the moment we're living in as one that necessitates the indulgence in maximalism's complex patterns and emotional tapestries. "For me as an artist, the visual cacophony of Maximalism is more important now than ever," Gjurasic explained to Vision Gallery. Her sentiment suggests a turning away from minimalism, instead embracing a visual language that speaks volumes in a single frame.

Those eager to jump into this riot of color and texture can attend the opening reception on August 22 or participate in the "So Fun!" Day on October 4. The Vision Gallery, a nonprofit supported by the Chandler Cultural Foundation, is open Tuesdays through Saturdays and boasts free admission, making this immersive experience accessible to all. The gallery, along with its sister venue at the Chandler Center for the Arts, is known for showcasing a broad spectrum of regional artists and their dynamic creations.
