In a rather alarming repeat of events, Springfield Police have once again detained Isaac Proctor, a 42-year-old man recently on bail for a similar offense, for another alleged act of sexual assault. This latest incident took place yesterday, August 18, shortly after 6 p.m. in the 0-100 block of Hardy Street, according to the Springfield Police Department's official news release.
Officers were called to the intersection of Boston Road and Parker Street earlier that evening following a report of a sexual assault. The victim told police that a man, who was later identified as Proctor, reached into her car through an open window and groped her. Utilizing footage from city cameras, Springfield Police Crime Analysts in the Real-Time Analysis Center (R-TAC) were able to locate a male fitting the suspect's description, leading to Proctor's arrest.
Notably, this is Proctor's second arrest of this nature in two months; SPD officers previously nabbed him on July 1 at the Walmart on Boston Road after he was accused of groping a teenage girl. He was out on bail for that charge of Indecent Assault & Battery on a person over age 14 at the time of his most recent arrest. The Springfield Police Department's news release states Proctor was scheduled for his next court date today, August 19, in connection to the July incident.
