Drivers planning to navigate the St. Charles County area should brace for some overnight delays as roadwork continues. According to a social media post by MoDOT - St. Louis, the westbound Interstate 64 exit ramp to westbound Interstate 70 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 26 as part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to install barrier walls and haul material for the construction of the new I-70/I-64/U.S. Route 61 interchange, improving the infrastructure and future flow of traffic through the area the work which is weather permitting could cause some inconvenience, but alternative routes have been planned to streamline the detour process for motorists on the move.
Motorists who typically travel on westbound I-64 will need to reroute via the eastbound I-70 Exit 1B ramp, where they can exit at the Route A interchange, then make their way back onto the westbound lanes of I-70. Despite the disruption, the aim is to accommodate growing traffic demands and upgrade the existing transportation system for longer-term benefits.
