
The St. John Sheriff's Office has opened an investigation into a shooting that occurred at a local business in Laplace, as reported by St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office's post. The incident took place late Thursday evening, around 9:30 pm, at the intersection of Belle Pointe Blvd and US 61, following an earlier altercation in a nearby subdivision involving two groups.
According to the Sheriff's office, these same groups later engaged in another physical and then violent confrontation outside of a business. At this point, individuals from both sides reportedly started shooting at each other. Deputies arrived immediately at the scene and detained those involved. No injuries from the gunfire have been reported. The Sheriff's Office has informed that several individuals have already been arrested, with expectations of more arrests to follow.
Local residents or anyone with information about the incidents are being urged to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.
