The Buchanan County Interstate 229 Double Decker Bridge in St. Joseph will be closed from Monday to Friday next week for scheduled maintenance. The closure will affect all ramps and both northbound and southbound lanes from Highland Avenue to U.S. Route 36, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).
The Missouri Department of Transportation stated the work will include maintenance on the bridge’s signage and lighting systems. No vehicles will be allowed to pass through the stretch during the closure, day or night.
Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes. The Missouri Department of Transportation also urged motorists to buckle seatbelts, avoid distractions, slow down, and move over in work zones to protect both crews and drivers.
