St. Louis is beginning its first major zoning code update since the 1950s and is asking for community input through its Zoning Upgrade initiative. The effort follows the adoption of the Strategic Land Use Plan (SLUP) by the Planning Commission in early 2025, which incorporated community feedback, according to the City of St. Louis Government’s Facebook page.
The Zoning Upgrade aims to align land use regulations with current and future needs. To support the process, the city will form a 12-member Advisory Committee. Members will review drafts, provide local insights, and assist with outreach. A lottery system will be used to select committee members to ensure a broad range of representation.
Residents interested in serving on the committee can apply online at www.zoup-stl.com/get-involved. Applications are open until September 12.
