St. Louis County is in the midst of yet another homicide investigation following the discovery of a 64-year-old woman, Sheila Mills, found shot to death in her Northwoods home. According to KSDK, Mills was found on Saturday at approximately 1 p.m., after officers from the Northwoods Police Department were summoned to the 4400 block of Begg Boulevard.
Having received a call about the incident just before 12:50 p.m., upon arrival, police encountered the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial response by the Northwoods Police culminated in their urgent request for the St. Louis County homicide detectives to assume leadership in the unfolding investigation, as per a statement obtained by FOX2now.
As of the latest updates, no suspects have been detained in relation to the tragic event. The death of Mills marks a chilling punctuation to what appears to be a peaceful neighborhood's afternoon. Mary Schmitt, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis County Police Department, indicated that the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons has taken over the investigative charge, a detail echoed in coverage by First Alert 4.
Local residents have been left reeling in the aftermath of the shooting, with the sense of security they once took for granted hanging by a thread.
