The incident occurred in the 4400 block of Garfield on the evening of August 15, just after 9 p.m. According to reports, District 5 officers arrived at the scene to find a male victim between the ages of 35-40 with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Emergency Medical Services were quick to respond, and the man was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, and only after his death was he identified as Eric Louis; police are appealing to the public for any information that could help them understand the circumstances that led to this violent event.
