As the end of August approaches, Indianapolis residents can anticipate a blend of sunny skies and the potential for mid-week showers. The National Weather Service in Indianapolis reports that today's weather will be predominantly sunny with a high near 78 degrees and a light east northeast wind blowing at 3 to 7 mph. An east-northeast breeze is expected to continue into the night, with mostly clear skies and temperatures dropping to around 53 degrees.
The forecast, posted on the NWS website, indicates that Labor Day will continue to shower the city in sunny weather with a high near 80 degrees. In the days to follow, the high temperatures are predictably to slowly rise, reaching up to 81 degrees by Tuesday under mostly sunny skies.
However, as we move further into the week, the weather pattern is expected to shift subtly. Wednesday brings with it a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 2 p.m., against a backdrop of mostly sunny skies and a high once again near 80 degrees. Unsettled weather is expected, with a chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm developing after 2 a.m. on Wednesday night.
The likelihood of precipitation rises to 60 percent on Thursday, as the region could see showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 a.m., and then a slight chance of showers continuing until the afternoon. The turbulence will give way to partly sunny skies and cooler temperatures with a high near 69 degrees. A significant drop in temperature to a low around 48 degrees is anticipated for Thursday night. From there, the weather looks to mostly clear up, with a high of approximately 72 degrees predicted for Friday.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the forecast indicates mostly sunny skies on Saturday with a high near 74 degrees in Indianapolis. For the latest weather updates, residents can visit the NWS website.
