Yesterday in Oceanside, a suspect was arrested for suspicious vegetation fires in the Loma Alta area, and a joint statement from the Oceanside Police and Fire Departments was confirmed. The individual was caught in the act around 1:20 AM during a targeted surveillance operation, amid an investigative response to approximately 14 separate instances of arson that started on or around July 30.
Ongoing investigations suggest that these fires, primarily located northwest of El Camino Real and Oceanside Boulevard, were intentionally set, and the suspect is believed to be the lone actor behind them. Despite the arrest, the case remains active, with officials continuing to review evidence and maintaining a tight lid on the suspect's identity.
According to a social media post from the Oceanside Police Department, the individual is connected to all 14 fires that have been reported since July 30.
