
A disturbing incident of indecent conduct in a Lyft has shaken the community of Southbridge, Massachusetts, prompting swift action by local authorities. The Southbridge Police Department stated in a social media post that last Thursday, they received a call from a female Lyft driver concerning her male passenger's behavior.
The incident occurred around 12:41 pm when the male passenger, picked up in Worcester and heading to Southbridge, began masturbating inside the vehicle, just as the car entered Southbridge. The driver, who was 10 minutes from the destination, noticed the act in the parking lot she pulled into, and demanded the passenger leave the car and informed him that she would be calling the police. The male subsequently fled on foot. A dash camera in the driver's vehicle captured the ordeal, aiding officers in the suspect's identification and subsequent capture.
Police officers disseminated a BOLO alert for the male suspect, which proved effective as the youth was found shortly at a business on Mechanic Street. According to the Southbridge Police Department, the suspect conceded to his presence in the Lyft vehicle. He was apprehended and faced charges related to the incident
Due to the nature of the accusations, the suspect, a 15-year-old juvenile from Worcester, MA, has been charged with open & gross lewdness and disorderly conduct. In line with department protocols, the juvenile was processed at the police headquarters.
