
Swansea Police Department has apprehended a suspect following a domestic disturbance that turned violent in a local business on North Illinois Street. According to a social media post by the department, a call for a Subject Removal was answered by officers on the evening of August 9, 2025.
The incident involved a disagreement between two family members wherein, witnesses allege that Napoleon Mond displayed a gun and not only assaulted another individual but also aimed the weapon menacingly as he fled. Mond managed to evade capture initially, however, the subsequent investigation led to the discovery of multiple firearms at his residence.
On August 12, officers and detectives, in collaboration with the St. Clair County Drug Tactical Unit, executed a search warrant at Mond's home where they arrested him without incident. The following day, the case was presented to the St. Clair County State's Attorney's office, which resulted in a felony warrant for Mond on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Domestic Battery – Subsequent, and Aggravated Assault.
The Swansea Police Department has publicly acknowledged the partnership with both the St. Clair County Drug Tactical Unit and the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office in securing the arrest. All suspects, including Mond, are presumed innocent until proven guilty, as reminded by a statement issued by the Swansea Police Department.
