A tragic incident unfolded in Tempe on Sunday evening as a one-year-old boy was pulled from a pool in an apartment complex near Rural and Baseline roads. The youngster, whose situation is described as critical, was reportedly discovered not breathing after an incident of near-drowning. The Tempe Police Department responded to the emergency around 8 p.m., according to ABC15.

Tempe officers took swift action, administering CPR to the child upon their arrival before he was urgently transported by fire crews to a local hospital. "When Tempe PD arrived, they took over CPR until the toddler was transported to the hospital by fire crews," Assistant Chief of Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department Tony Butch explained in a statement obtained by AZFamily. As of now, the exact duration the child spent underwater before being rescued remains unclear.

This incident marks the second such occurrence in the Valley on the same day. Earlier, a 9-year-old boy underwent a similar fate, being pulled from a pool at a home in Buckeye. He, too, remains in critical condition, as per AZFamily.
