
The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) has opened the application process for its Citizens' Correctional Academy, a program aimed to provide insight into the workings of the state's correctional system. Starting today, Tennesseans are invited to apply for the fall 2025 session to take place on Thursday evenings from September 25 through October 30. Each session will be hosted at various TDOC locations within Nashville.
According to the announcement, participants will have the chance to not only observe, but also to directly engage with the multifaceted aspects of correctional work. They can to partake in tours of three correctional facilities and delve into discussions about rehabilitation and reentry programs aimed at community supervision.
The Citizens' Correctional Academy, which initially launched in 2014, offers attendees a rare glimpse behind the correctional curtain, highlighting the efforts of more than 5,000 correctional professionals charged with ensuring public safety. Applicants interested in the six-week program have until Friday, August 29, to submit their applications through the provided TDOC link.
