Tragedy struck early Saturday when a suspected DUI crash in Sacramento left three people dead and one person injured, as authorities reported a collision between a truck and a vehicle that subsequently caught fire; the Sacramento Police Department informed ABC 10. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. near Roseville Road and Connie Drive, and despite officers' efforts, they were unable to extinguish the flames engulfing the vehicle.

Two victims were found deceased inside the vehicle, which was fully engulfed in flames. A third victim was located farther down the roadway, believed to have been ejected during the crash, according to police. The incident occurred near a patrol unit, prompting an immediate emergency response. Despite efforts at the scene, all three victims were pronounced dead. The driver of the truck, suspected of driving under the influence, was transported to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

In response to the devastating crash, KCRA 3 reached out to the victim services manager for Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Rhonda Campbell, who expressed her sorrow and empathy, saying, "I'll be honest with you, my first reaction when I read these things is, I cry it out because I know what they're going through. I've been there,” KCRA 3 reported. Campbell's involvement in advocating for responsible driving is personal; her 12-year-old sister Irene Ruth Harris was a victim of a drunk driving incident back in 1981.

Campbell's commitment to supporting families affected by such tragedies is deeply rooted in her own experience, aiming to aid those navigating through these darkest times she remarked "That is a long effect. It's not just that immediate crash that's the impact,” she told KCRA 3, emphasizing the enduring aftermath those left behind must face, as they come to terms with sudden and preventable loss. Authorities have yet to release the identities of the victims involved in the Sacramento crash.
