Fort Lauderdale became the site of a violent altercation when gunfire erupted at a local gas station, leaving three people injured, according to recent reports. The incident took place yesterday evening at a Wawa gas station situated at the 6100 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue. Local 10 disclosed that following the shooting, a significant police presence was seen, and three individuals were found with injuries.

Two of the the victims were rushed to the Broward Health Medical Center, with one of them listed as a trauma alert and the other suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the third person involved in the shooting refused hospital treatment, as first responders noted. 7News captured footage of the crime scene being cordoned off and a car that had been struck by bullets, leaving it with shattered windows and punctured metal. WSVN reported, witnesses at the gas station heard an argument by the pumps before the sounds of gunfire shook the area.

Amidst the chaos, one of the wounded sought refuge at a nearby Arby's restaurant where Theresa Petersen happened to be dining. "He had blood on his hands, maybe he had gotten grazed by a bullet," Petersen recounted. “He said they started shooting and he just ran,” she told Local 10. The restaurant swiftly locked its doors as the employee and customers inside processed the intense moment. A man, who chose to remain unnamed, was sitting in his car after placing an order at Wawa when the shots cracked through the evening air. “I heard six shots but it sounded like more shots. So then, when I saw everyone running out, I saw one guy running over to the garbage, so I’m like, ‘What the hell is going on,'” he described, sharing his bewilderment with WSVN.

As investigators worked the scene and the immediate danger had passed, Fort Lauderdale Police assured the public that there was no continued threat and that all parties involved were accounted for. Despite the arrest of the shooters, there remains aspects of this incident shrouded in unease—as the full motive and circumstances that led to the shooting are still under active investigation.
