A fatal collision in St. Tammany Parish on Saturday morning involved three vehicles and resulted in one death and two injuries, disrupting the quiet flow of the typical weekend morning. According to WGNO, the incident occurred on Louisiana Highway 36 at the intersection with Louisiana Highway 3241.
At around 7:30 a.m., witnesses and emergency responders converged on the scene where a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, operated by 39-year-old Jennifer L. Ayo from Covington, entered an intersection and was struck by two other vehicles. WDSU reports indicated that Ayo was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 3241 before the crash. In an unfortunate series of events, Ayo's vehicle was first hit by a westbound 2010 Honda Fit and then by an eastbound 2009 Ford F-150 after it continued into the oncoming lane.
The crash proved fatal for Ayo, who was declared deceased at the very scene. She had been traveling without the security of a seatbelt, a decision that likely affected the outcome of the collision. The drivers of the other vehicles involved were both restrained at the time of the incident; the Honda driver suffered life-threatening injuries, and the Ford driver sustained moderate injuries, as confirmed by WWLTV. Both were transported to local hospitals for medical attention.
