Tulsa Police arrested two individuals in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday last week near 36th and Yale. The incident resulted in the death of 32-year-old Heather Martinez and left a 50-year-old man with gunshot wounds. He is expected to recover. Tulsa Police identified and arrested the suspected shooter and an accomplice believed to have been the getaway driver.
Investigators located the suspect vehicle, a red Camaro, leading to the arrest of the driver, Jacqueline Hull, on Monday. She has been charged with 1st Degree Murder. The alleged shooter, 44-year-old Mark Burleson, was arrested in Ponca City and will be transported to Tulsa to face murder charges.
Authorities noted that Burleson’s tribal status could bring the McGirt ruling into play, which requires federal involvement when crimes involve Native Americans on tribal lands. The FBI will assist in the investigation. Tulsa Police have stated that no additional suspects are being sought at this time.
