Early yesterday, a collision involving a suspected drunk driver and a police vehicle left two Phoenix officers injured. The incident, which occurred near 19th and Dunlap avenues around 4:20 a.m., involved a pickup truck that collided with the patrol vehicle, both sources, FOX 10 Phoenix and KTAR News, reported.
The officers were identified as being in uniform and inside their marked car when struck by the truck. Following the crash, the police officers were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. The condition of the officers remains undisclosed, the man driving the truck, who exhibited signs of intoxication, was also taken to a hospital for treatment and DUI processing, as per FOX 10 Phoenix.
Authorities have not released the name of the suspected impaired driver at the time of reporting. The impact of the crash necessitated the closure of the intersection for investigative and clearing operations, though, it was later reopened to the public traffic flow.
