Yesterday evening, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a grim discovery in the Willamette River. A body was spotted by a 9-1-1 caller, floating near the I-205 bridge just after 7:45 p.m. The remains, belonging to an unidentified man, were retrieved with the aid of Clackamas Fire Department personnel.
The body was reported to have been in the river for an extended period, based on its condition. Deputies, however, did not note any clear indications of trauma that could point to the cause of death. The investigation, now under the jurisdiction of the Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office, is still unfolding as officials seek to unravel the mysteries surrounding the man's demise, as detailed by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
Details regarding the identity of the man or how he came to be in the river remain sparse at this time. Authorities are focusing their inquiries on both identifying the man and determining the timeline of events that led to this moment. Community members and potential witnesses with any knowledge that could aid the investigation are being urged to come forward.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has issued a brief statement on the case, which is available on their website. In it, the Sheriff's Office explains, "The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office will continue the investigation."
