Heads up, drivers: the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that roadwork is scheduled for the Gramercy Bridge on LA 3213, in both northbound and southbound directions. The work is set to begin on August 15, 2025, at 8:00 AM, and is expected to wrap up by August 29, 2025, at 3:00 PM, as long as the weather cooperates. According to the announcement by the DOTD, drivers should anticipate a partial closure during this period.
The affected stretch of road starts at the junction with LA 18 and extends to where it meets LA 44. While aiming to minimize disruptions, the DOTD advises that no oversize loads exceeding 12 feet in width will be permitted through the construction zone. As bridge inspections are critical to ensuring the safety and integrity of these vital infrastructures, such closures are a necessary inconvenience to ensure that everything is up to standard.
Commuters and long-haul truckers planning routes through St. James Parish during the second half of August should plan accordingly. Alternate routes should be considered to avoid delays, and all drivers passing through the area are urged to observe caution, heed construction signage, and respect the safety of road crews working on the bridge. Regular updates regarding traffic conditions and construction progress are expected to be provided by the DOTD as the project commences and moves forward.
