Heads up, motorists: US 93 will shut down near Kingman for an hour come Tuesday night. According to a release on ADOT's website, the road will close from 8 to 9 p.m. on August 26 for a rock blasting test. This is part of the preparation for more blasts that will punctuate the area's nights starting September 3 and stretching into October.

The spot to avoid is between Betty Lane, just outside the I-40/US 93 interchange, and Coyote Pass near where US 93 meets State Route 68. To make life a bit easier for travelers, ADOT plans to quickly have lane restrictions in place about an hour before the shutdown. The $106 million interchange project aims to improve traffic flow and provide a more direct connection between Las Vegas and Arizona. However, drivers will need to be patient, as construction isn’t expected to finish until 2027.
