The defense was equally tenacious, effectively snuffing out threats, including a crucial shot blocked away by the Miners in the first half.
Particular attention was given to UTEP's freshmen, like goalkeeper Savanah Finley, who delivered three saves to earn a clean sheet, the first for a UTEP freshman GK since 2021. "It's good when you put the ball in the back of the net. This team's been craving to do that, and we knew if we scored one that we'd score multiple goals," Keeton told UTEP Athletics.
