A series of violent incidents rocked Boston between last night and earlier this morning, resulting in five people being hospitalized due to one stabbing and four shootings across the city. According to NBC Boston, the events began just before midnight on Sunday when Boston Police responded to a stabbing outside the Home Run Cafe on Massachusetts Avenue. The victim was found with several stab wounds and the current status of their condition remains undisclosed.
Following the initial stabbing, Boston Police were alerted to a person shot at 20 Ellington St. in Dorchester. "Officers arrived to find Boston EMS treating a man with one non-life-threatening gunshot wound before he was taken to the hospital," as per a statement obtained by MassLive. The night escalated with three additional shootings, closely clustered in time and vicinity, complicating a violent stretch for Boston's law enforcement.
The subsequent trio of shootings began around 2:50 a.m., when officers encountered a man with a gunshot wound on Kingsdale Street, Dorchester. In connection with a ShotSpotter activation signaling gunfire, police then pursued two individuals near Dorchester Avenue and Melville Avenue. The pursuit led to a crash and ensuing foot chase, ending with the discovery of one of the individuals, wounded and hidden under a car in Barry Park. A firearm and ammunition were also found at the scene, according to reports from the Boston Police Department.
Simultaneously, another person was located on Talbot Avenue with gunshot injuries shortly after police responded to additional ShotSpotter activations. This individual sustained non-life-threatening wounds and was also taken to the hospital. As of the latest updates, no arrests have been made and the investigations into each act of violence remain active, with law enforcement seeking both answers and suspects to piece together the events that unfolded during the violent episode.
