The fire departments of West Allis and the City of Wauwatosa are considering a potential merger. An informational session will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at City Hall, located at 7525 W. Greenfield Ave., from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Residents are invited to review the merger report slides, speak with city officials, and ask questions related to the proposed consolidation.
As reported by the City of West Allis, the forthcoming information session is a response to the study findings which are currently undergoing a thorough examination by city leadership, the evaluation of this study is critical as it will influence whether the merger would result in maintaining or enhancing service levels.
City officials have stated that the primary objective of any potential merger is to maintain or improve the quality of service. Considerations such as response times, resources, and staffing are being evaluated to ensure that the merger would move forward only if it benefits the community.
