An hourslong standoff at the West Chester Quality Inn ended peacefully on Saturday with the arrest of Joshua Price, 36, who was taken into custody without incident, as per a news release referenced by Cincinnati.com. Price is facing charges of aggravated robbery, weapons under disability, and domestic violence. The situation began unfolding the night of last Friday, when the West Chester Police Department made several arrests tied to a potentially stolen vehicle and a person with a weapon.
After evacuating the hotel, police attempted to reach a fourth suspect believed to be armed in their room at 8:34 a.m., but the person refused to leave. During the ordeal, Cincinnati Dayton Road was closed, which caused detours for motorists around the hotel, local authorities advised. This information was included in a report by LOCAL12.
Various efforts were made by authorities to contact and persuade the suspect to surrender throughout the morning and early afternoon. Identified later as Joshua Price, the man was believed to be potentially armed, prompting the arrival of SWAT units. As a precaution, guests staying in other rooms of the hotel were evacuated. The standoff spanned approximately four hours but concluded when Price voluntarily agreed to surrender at 12:36 p.m., as reported by WLWT.
“Our officers did an outstanding job responding to and investigating the initial report, which helped identify the suspect before he could escape or cause harm to others,” Police Chief Brian Rebholz told Cincinnati.com in the release. Following the resolution of the standoff, Cincinnati Dayton Road was reopened, and the evacuated guests were allowed to return to the hotel premises. Details regarding the involvement of the three other individuals initially arrested in connection with the incident have not been disclosed by authorities.
