A Westland man faces charges after a local investigation led to the discovery of child sexually abusive material in his home. Terence Darell Gaines Jr., 21, was charged with one count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, alongside other related charges, according to The Detroit News.
Gaines's arrest followed after a search by Westland police of his home unearthed the illegal materials; the subsequent court proceedings mandated a $50,000 bond with conditions including a GPS tether and a 10 p.m. curfew, and he has been ordered not to communicate with minors or use computers while the case is pending while still in custody at Wayne County Jail, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
Detailed in the Wayne County Prosecutor's office release, Kym Worthy emphasized the commitment of her office, stating, "This office will aggressively prosecute those who commit crimes that put our children in harm’s way," a sentiment echoed across each publication covering the incident, including FOX 2 Detroit. The defense for Gaines has claimed that the individual in the material is 17 years old; however, the exact details of that claim have yet to be clarified publicly.
