As reported by ABC15, the expansion kicks off this fall, with one such in-store restaurant planned for Tempe, Arizona. However, the exact Walmart location in Tempe remains unannounced.
This move marks a significant pivot toward non-traditional growth avenues for Wienerschnitzel, with a total of six new locations planned across the western U.S. - including Reno, Nevada, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Bakersfield, California, Puyallup, Washington, and Alamogordo, New Mexico. "I’ve been with Wienerschnitzel for over a decade now, and I’ve seen firsthand the immense growth and evolution it has undergone," Ted Milburn, Director of Franchise Development, stated in a news release obtained by ABC15.
The attraction of Wienernschnitzel's expansion into Walmart, as per a report by AZ Family, is said to offer franchisees the opportunity to capitalize on Walmart’s foot traffic and ready-made customer base. According to Shak Turner, Director of Franchise Expansion, "It’s clear Wienerschnitzel’s unique concept fills a specific void for multi-brand franchisees looking to grow their portfolios," in a statement to AZ Family.
Wienerschnitzel's plans indicate a broader vision for its brand presence, eyeing a variety of non-traditional venues, such as airports and military bases, for future development. The Walmart-based locations will include the chain's full menu, offering the classic hot dog fare Wienerschnitzel fans have come to expect.
