A somber case unfolded in the Dutchtown neighborhood where 31-year-old Marilyn Emilien was tragically shot and killed, and a man sustained a non-fatal injury. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reported that the incident took place on Saturday near the intersection of Dewey and Gasconade.
According to the police, officers responding to the emergency call at approximately 2:41 PM discovered a dark grey Kia Seltos riddled with bullets, its windows shattered. Emilien was found inside, unconscious and struggling for breath, while the male victim, also in his 30s, had suffered a graze wound to the head. Despite the efforts of emergency medical services, Emilien's injuries proved fatal.
Authorities have since taken a 22-year-old man into custody, charging him with first-degree murder, among other offenses. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed by law enforcement, reportedly admitted his involvement to police at the scene. SLMPD Homicide Detectives are actively investigating the case, spurred by the ballistic evidence found on the 3600 block of Gasconade.
The Circuit Attorney’s Office has swiftly acted in the wake of the shooting, formally charging the young man with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and two counts of armed criminal action.
