A Worcester man has been handed down a life sentence for the first-degree murder of Leon Wilson, Jr., a 23-year-old from Fitchburg, in a case that dates back to July 2019. Mugisha Jeanbosco, 27, was convicted by a jury in Worcester Superior Court and will serve his time without the possibility of parole, as disclosed by the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.
Following the multi-day trial, Jeanbosco was also found guilty of armed robbery, an offense that comes with a 25 to 30-year prison sentence to be served concurrently with the life sentence. While the recent conclusion of Jeanbosco's trial marks a significant milestone, the judicial proceedings have yet to wrap up entirely for the tragic incident that unfolded in the vicinity of Pie Alley in Fitchburg. Two other individuals, Jason Robinson, 39, of Fitchburg, and Jonathan Baez, 25, of Worcester, face charges related to the case as well.
According to a report by the Worcester County District Attorney's Office, District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. expressed his hope that the verdict might offer some solace to the bereaved family and friends of Leon Wilson, Jr. In his statement, Mr. Early acknowledged the efforts of Assistant District Attorneys Brett Dillon and Shayna Woodard, Victim Witness Advocate Kayley Jones, and the local as well as state law enforcement that played a part in securing the conviction.
Robinson and Baez were arraigned in Worcester Superior Court back in March 2020, facing charges for armed robbery and accessory after the fact of murder, respectively. Their next court appearance has been slated for August 25, indicating that the repercussions of the event are far from over, and justice for Leon Wilson, Jr. is a matter still unfolding within the confines of the courtroom.
