A tragic incident unfolded early yesterday morning when 19-year-old Paden Thomas was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Pottawatomie County. The accident occurred on Bethel Road, just north of Hardesty Road, as reported by KOCO. Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed that Thomas departed the roadway and subsequently struck a tree.
The crash, which took place shortly after 6 a.m., is still being investigated to determine its cause. While officials diligently work to uncover what happened, the knowledge does little to mitigate the grim reality of the young life cut short. According to a report by OKC FOX, Thomas was wearing a seat belt when his vehicle veered off the road. He was the sole occupant of the car.
Thomas, who was from the city of Davis, Oklahoma, met his end in the early moments of dawn. As described by KTEN, little after 6:00 a.m., his vehicle tragically left the road and impacted a tree, resulting in fatal injuries.
As authorities continue to thoroughly investigate, they hope to ultimately shed light on the circumstances that led to the fatal event. Oklahoma Highway Patrol is asking anyone with knowledge about the crash to come forward, in order to potentially piece together how to avoid such tragedies in the future.
