Three people sustained injuries in a shooting incident that occurred late last night in the 1900 block of East Minnesota Street, Indianapolis. FOX59 reported that the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) was called to the scene around 11:40 p.m. after a 911 call from an individual not present at the location but who had heard about the shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found two adults with gunshot wounds. After arriving at the hospital, one victim was admitted to Eskenazi Hospital, and another to IU Health Methodist Hospital, both victims remaining in stable condition with injuries endured. As gathered from officers on the scene, IMPD learned that a third adult victim arrived at Eskenazi Hospital with gunshot wounds, also in a "stable" state, as per WTHR.
The circumstances preceding the shooting are believed to involve a disturbance within the residence. "What little information we have now is there was some type of disturbance that was going on here, and then shots were fired," said Capt. Don Weilhammer in a statement obtained by FOX59. Although the motive and the specifics of the incident remain unclear, IMPD officials have projected no further threat to the public.
According to WISH-TV, early Friday, the police suggested they might be aware of the identity of the shooter, however, no arrests have been publicly announced at this point, nor have details regarding what led to the shooting been detailed. Both the victims and potential suspects have not been cooperative with police investigators, which has hindered efforts to unravel this case. "Obviously, they’re in some pain, they’re in shock, so hopefully once they get a little bit of treatment at the hospital, they’ll talk to the detective that’s on the scene there, and hopefully we can get this straightened out," Weilhammer articulated.
Indianapolis authorities are currently soliciting help from the community for information or doorbell camera footage that could assist in their investigation. Anyone with information is urged to reach out to IMPD at (317) 327-3475 or contact Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
