
Akron Police are on the hunt for a suspect involved in a shooting incident that left a 23-year-old man injured outside a local vape shop, Cleveland19 reported. The altercation took place on Saturday afternoon, just after 4:45 p.m., in the 1500 block of South Hawkins Avenue.
Following a dispute inside an SUV, the suspect discharged a firearm, striking the victim in the leg. Sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, the individual was able to exit the vehicle and find safety by limping away. Two others present in the car also managed to escape unharmed. The assailant, described as a heavy-set man wearing a white t-shirt and blue pants, shattered the SUV's driver’s side window, then fled the scene in the car, as reported by FOX8 News.
The police response was swift, with officers locating the vehicle approximately six minutes later near East Avenue and Vernon Odom Boulevard. While the suspect remains at large, the investigators are piecing together the details of the incident. The victim, who was treated at a hospital, also informed the authorities that the shooter had stolen his watch during the encounter, according to information released by the Akron Beacon Journal.
As of yet, no arrests have been made, but the Akron Police Department continues their investigation into the shooting. The suspect's apprehension is considered a priority, and the department is urging anyone with information to come forward. The confluence of theft, violence, and public danger marks this event as particularly severe, reflecting an urgent need for resolution and justice.
