Clarksville brings history to life with its annual "A Day with the Dead" Cemetery Tour. Slated for October 4 at Riverview Cemetery, this event, courtesy of McReynolds, Nave & Larson Funeral Home, offers a glimpse into Montgomery County's storied past with burials dating back to the 1800s. Costumed actors are set to walk the grounds, embodying the notable figures that once called Clarksville home.
According to the City of Clarksville's official announcement, the tour has drawn strong community interest, reflecting a shared desire to connect with the city’s history. While most sessions are already sold out, a limited number of tickets for the early tours remain for late registrants. These hour-long tours, featuring stories that bridge the past and present, offer attendees an intimate look at the history shaping Clarksville. Priced at $15 for participants aged ten and older, the experience requires advance registration, with tickets accessible online.
William Parker, a Historical Interpreter at Fort Defiance, expressed gratitude for the support from the funeral home. "Thanks to McReynolds, Nave & Larson Funeral Home for supporting this program and helping us preserve and share the stories of Clarksville’s history," he told the City of Clarksville. The organizers also made it clear that the tour might not be suitable for small children, and attendees are advised to leave pets and strollers at home.
