
Governor Katie Hobbs has appointed James “Jimmy” McCain to the Arizona Board of Regents to strengthen oversight of higher education in northern Arizona. According to the Governor’s Office, McCain is a veteran, businessman, and native Arizonan with experience in the region’s public education system.
McCain has served twice in the military, held positions on various boards, and is currently pursuing a doctorate focusing on improving health outcomes for Native American veterans. In a statement, McCain said he is honored to serve and plans to work on creating pathways for students from diverse backgrounds, including Tribal and rural communities.
McCain, the youngest son of the late U.S. Senator John McCain, enlisted in the Marines at an early age and later pursued education both in Arizona and at Trinity College Dublin. He has served on boards including the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations and the Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association.
