An armored vehicle operator fell victim to an attempted robbery and aggravated assault along Metropolitan Parkway yesterday morning. The incident, which left the man with a graze wound to his head, sparked an immediate response from local authorities and later the FBI, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
Reports from the Atlanta Police Department, detailed the event took place at around 9:09 a.m. when the suspect confronted the victim and fired a shot, grazing his head. Despite the injury, the victim remained alert and was able to receive prompt medical attention. The perpetrator allegedly made off with a money bag carrying $50,000 before encountering a different fate on the roads.
In what seems to be a string of ill-fated events for the suspect, his getaway was short-lived due to a traffic accident in Forest Park. The Forest Park Police detained the individual pending further identification by Atlanta Police Department officers, as mentioned in a statement obtained by the APD.
