Chaos erupted at a local hangout spot in El Paso as police were called to respond to an assault in progress. According to the El Paso Police Department, officers arrived at 2708 N. Mesa to find a scene teeming with approximately 30 to 40 people shouting, while a security guard was in the midst of striving to detain an unruly patron. The incident took an ugly turn when the individual, identified as Dhendup, allegedly assaulted the guard after being asked to leave for vomiting inside the establishment.
The situation quickly escalated as the security guard was then reportedly attacked by several individuals associated with Dhendup. In an attempt to establish control, officers had to swiftly intervene. However, another individual, Dorji, continued to obstruct officers despite repeated orders, ultimately leading both Dhendup and Dorji to be arrested on assault charges. The El Paso Police Department confirmed that the suspects were later booked into the El Paso County Jail.
While details surrounding the initial cause of the altercation remained under investigation, the rapid response by law enforcement underscores the ever-present tensions that can quickly boil over in public venues. Neither Dhendup nor Dorji had any prior arrests in El Paso County, according to public records.
